Master Your Focus.

A step-by-step guide to configuring Block Redirect to build better digital habits.

To gain control over your digital environment, you first need to identify your distractions. You can create as many unique rules as you need (e.g., a "Social Media" rule, a "Gaming" rule, etc.).

  1. From the home screen, tap the + button in the bottom corner.
  2. Choose whether you want to Just Block an item (a standard lockout) or Block & Redirect (our habit-replacement feature).
  3. Select whether you want to block a native App or a specific Website.
  4. Pick the app from your device's installed list or enter the website URL (e.g., youtube.com).

Setting a Redirect (The Habit Breaker)

Psychology shows that replacing a bad habit is much easier than simply stopping it. Instead of hitting a frustrating "Blocked" screen when you accidentally open a distracting app, Block Redirect can instantly route your attention to a productive alternative.

After adding an item to block, tap on "Choose Redirect". You can configure it to automatically open a language learning app, your daily to-do list, or an educational website.

There is no scheduling or time limit involved in Always Mode. As long as the rule's toggle switch is turned ON, the apps and websites in this list will be continuously and aggressively blocked.

Best used for:

  • Permanent Digital Detox: Completely removing your access to a highly addictive game or shopping site without having to uninstall it.
  • Mindful Friction: You can leave the rule toggled on by default, forcing yourself to open the Block Redirect app and manually toggle it off whenever you genuinely need to use the app. This creates a moment of friction to stop mindless, automatic scrolling.

Daily Limit Mode allows you to enjoy your favorite apps in moderation. Instead of blocking an app entirely, you give yourself a specific allowance of screen time (e.g., 45 minutes of TikTok and Instagram combined per day).

How it works: Block Redirect silently monitors your active, foreground usage of the apps within this rule. Once your accumulated time reaches your preset limit, the apps are instantly locked down for the rest of the day. The timer automatically resets at midnight, giving you a fresh allowance the next morning.

Planner Mode perfectly aligns your app restrictions with your real-life routine. It operates in two different ways:

  • Weekly Schedules: Ideal for building automated routines. You can configure a rule to block social media and games every Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, ensuring you stay productive during work or school hours without manually touching the app.
  • Date Appointments: Perfect for one-off events. Got a crucial final exam next Tuesday at 2:00 PM? Set an appointment block to lock down all distractions just for that specific 3-hour window. Once the time passes, your apps automatically return to normal.

The Pomodoro Technique is a scientifically proven method for beating procrastination. It breaks your work down into hyper-focused intervals separated by short breaks to prevent mental fatigue.

How we supercharge it: When you start a Pomodoro session in Block Redirect, the apps in your rule are strictly blocked during the "Work" phase. You literally cannot open them. However, when the timer transitions to a "Break", the apps automatically unlock, allowing you to relax and reply to messages guilt-free before the next work session begins.

Premium users can bypass the classic 25/5 minute timer and fully customize the work and break durations to match their unique flow state.

Standard rules operate as "Block Lists"—they target and block only the specific items you select. Enabling the Allow List toggle flips this logic entirely.

When you enable an Allow List, your device enters strict "Zero Trust" mode. Every single app and website on your phone is blocked by default, except for the few you explicitly allow.

Why use this? If you are studying for the bar exam or pushing to meet a tight writing deadline, you might only want access to your Calculator, Notes app, and Phone dialer. The Allow List creates an impenetrable fortress of focus, guaranteeing you won't get sidetracked by a random app you forgot to add to your block list.
